Professional footballer kidnapped in Kano by bandits, rescued in Kaduna

*A suspect arrested

The Operatives of the Nigeria Police in Kaduna said it has successfully thwarted the kidnapping of a professional footballer cum automobile business man Mohammed Goni Jidda who was kidnapped in Kano.

The said incident which took place on the 23rd July, 2024 at a hotel in Kano, had the victim been whisked away by his abductors who were five in number and headed towards Abuja before they were intercepted by “the ever vigilant Police Operatives attached to Sabin Gari Division, Zaria on routine patrol.

This was contained in statement issued and signed by the Kaduna Police command spokesman Asp Mansir Hassan on Thursday in Kaduna.

“The suspicious sitting posture of the occupants of the vehicle in which the victim was been transported alerted the Police Operatives about something fishy, and acted swiftly which resulted in the rescue of the victim unhurt and the subsequent arrest of one of the suspect Alfaki Abdullahi”, it stated.

Preliminary inquiry, according to police, indicated that the suspects arrived Kano from Maiduguri in order to kidnap the victim and resident of FCT Abuja, who came to Kano for a business endeavour.

“Equally, the suspects had since contacted the victim’s close associate demanding for a huge sum as ransom before the Police struck”, it added.

“The rescued victim and the arrested suspect will soonest be handed over to Kano state Police Command where the kidnapping occurred.

“The Commissioner of Police Kaduna State Command CP A.D. Ali, lauded the Police Officers dogged vigilance and warned criminals to stay away from Kaduna state due to the Police Command’s uncompromising security barriers”, it stated.
