The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Agbarho Police Division, CSP Jega, has been killed in an ambush by kidnappers in Delta State.
It was gathered that his Orerokpe counterpart in Okpe Local Government Area, simply identified as CSP Paul, also sustained serious gunshots and is currently in critical condition in an undisclosed hospital.
The unfortunate incident took place in the early hours of today, Monday, on the Agbarho-Ughelli end of the East-West Road in Delta State.
Sources says both DPOs had led a combined team for a kidnap rescue operation but were unaware that the kidnap gang had laid an ambush and battle ready to encounter them.
The Spokesperson for the Delta State Police Command, SP Bright Efafe confirmed the development.
