Onuesoke Urge Leaders To Shift From Partisan To Developmental Politics

By Our Reporter

Chief Sunny Onuesoke, a former governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State, has urged leaders and politicians to embrace developmental politics as against partisan politics.

Onuesoke in a statement on Saturday, emphasised on the need to move away from politics driven by party affiliations, and focus on national development.

He said leaders should give attention to national development, stressing the importance of addressing the country’s challenges, such as infrastructural development, economic growth, education, healthcare and poverty reduction.

“We should give attention to developmental politics and move away from partisan politics if we must develop as a nation,”

Onuesoke called for collaboration and inclusivity in politics, saying collaborative approach, where leaders work across party lines and engage citizens in decision-making processes, should be enthroned in the nation’s politics firmament.

According to him, focusing on developmental politics, leaders could reduce tensions and conflicts driven by party affiliations.

He noted that inclusive decision-making processes could lead to greater citizen-participation and ownership of development initiatives.

Onuesoke pointed that developmental politics could result in more effective governance if leaders prioritise the nation’s interests over party interests.

The Urhobo born politician charged leaders to inspire leadership and confidence among the citizenry, noting that collaboration across party lines requires building trust and cooperation among the citizens and the political class, which can be challenging.

He noted that maintaining the momentum of developmental politics requires sustained commitment and effort from leaders and citizens.

” Adopting developmental politics, leaders can collaborate across party lines; engage citizens in decision-making processes, and foster a sense of national unity and purpose”
