The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Warri Correspondents’ Chapel, has called on the people of Ijaw, Itsekiri, Urhobo, and other residents of Warri to embrace peace and shun all actions capable of plunging the city into another round of crisis.
This call was made in a communique issued at the end of the Congress of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Warri Correspondents’ Chapel, held at the Chief Government Ekpemupolo Press Centre, Warri, Delta State, on Monday, 22nd September, 2025.
The Congress charged journalists covering recent agitations in Warri to report objectively and professionally. It also urged social media handlers to refrain from publishing posts or content that could incite conflict among stakeholders.
It implored security agencies to take urgent and decisive action against the incessant kidnapping of children in Agbarho Kingdom, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, called on security operatives to tackle the recurring cult clashes in the area.
Congress commended Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori on the legacy projects being executed across the state, particularly in Warri, Uvwie, and surrounding communities.
The union urged Governor Oborevwori to expedite work on the ongoing roads construction and drain systems in Warri, Uvwie, and other parts of the state as dry especially in preparation for the dry season approaches.
In the same vein, Congress called on the Delta State Government to urgently commence the reconstruction of the Udu Express Junction/ECN Road — a critical artery connecting several local government areas.
It also called for immediate repairs on the FUPRE Junction section of the East-West Road.
