The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), The Niger State Command, has beefed up and fortified patrols across border posts across the state.
The service issued a memo directing state and zonal commands of the service to intensify and increase patrol on border towns to curtail the influx of some notorious terrorists that escaped from prison as a result of reported case of jail break in Niger Republic.
The memo, according to the Controller General of the service, Kemi Nana Nandap directed all immigration formations within border communities in their respective states and zonal commands to be on the alert to curtail the movement of unusual faces within the borders
This was disclosed in a press statement signed by the head of Media and Public Relation unit of the Niger State command, Mallam Mukhtar Abubakar on Thursday in Minna.
He said the command had already placed men of the border patrol, on the red alert to assist in intensifying their patrols along the border towns across the state to checkmate the movement of suspicious movement.
According to him, the Niger State command of the Service has already complied with the memo forwarded to all the state and zonal commands of the Nigeria Immigration Service as a result of a jailbreak recorded in Niger Republic.
” The Service headquarters received a credible intelligence information that “as a result of the jailbreak in Niger Republic, some hardened terrorists groups will infiltrate border communities on that note we were directed to fortify our border communities with patrol to nip in the board any unforeseen Security breaches”
” We are not taking any chances. We are already on top of the situation to curtail and checkmate the movement of any unusual movement on our border communities in Niger State.
” Our border patrol squads are already on top of the situation with the aim of checking the influx of suspicious movement of any character within our border towns and communities” he stated.
Mukhtar called on the general public to assist the command with useful and credible Information on the strange faces in their midst this according to him will assist the command in taking proactive action.
” I’m calling on members of the Public particularly those within our border communities, to extend their hands of cooperation to our border patrol squads with useful and credible Information on any unusual movement in their midsts for prompt action” he added.
