Niger State Chief Judge Assures On Fairness, Equity, Accountability

The Chief Judge Of Niger State, Justice Halima Ibrahim Abdulmalik has promised to uphold rules ensuring fairness, accountability and equity.

She said the Judiciary in Niger State, will continue to sustain the principles of justice.

Speaking at the official commissioning of newly constructed Lapai High Court on Thursday, Justice Abdulmalik, said, ” We are entrusted with the sacred responsibility to ensure that every person, regardless of their background or status has equal access to Justice”

According to her, the construction of the Court, is more than the expansion of the state Judiciary infrastructure.

” Our commitment to upholding the rights and freedoms of every person in our community. A functional and accessible Judiciary is essential in the promotion of peace,order, security and stability of our nation”

She was optimistic that the Court will serve as guardian of justice, a beacon of hope, and a platform where the voice of the oppressed will be heard.

She disclosed that the project was executed through direct labor, explaining that the total amount appropriated for the project in the 2024 appropriation law, is the sum of N150m for the structure only.

” With the prudent spendings and commitment of the members of the resident due process team, a conservative sum of eighty three million,three hundred and twelve thousand ,eight hundred,and eighty naira (N83,312,880) only was expended in the entire project including the fencing, furnishing and landscaping”

” As we look to the future, and our readiness to carry out direct Labour which is more efficient and cost saving, it is imperative that we equip the resident Due process team with the tools they need to perform their duties effectively”

“One pressing need that must be addressed is the Provision of a project vehicle for the Due process team, this vehicle will not only facilitate transportation to and from the construction sites,but will also ease transportation of goods and materials needed at the site” the chief judge opined.

She then requested the Governor of Niger State, Farmer Governor Umar Mohammed Bago to consider prioritizing the procurement of a Toyota Hilux as a project vehicle for the resident Due process team of the High court of Justice Minna.

She charged the people of Lapai community to engage with the state Judiciary to understand their rights and to seek justice when needed.

Speaking earlier, the Registrar of the Niger State Judiciary, Hajiya Amina Lamide Musa Saidu, commended Governor Bago whose leadership transformed the remarkable achievement recorded in the construction of the edifice.

She disclosed that his administration has demonstrated an admirable dedication towards improving the administration of justice, stating that the construction of the court is another testament to the governor’s commitment in ensuring the mutual working relationship with the Judiciary.

Hajiya Musa, applauded the Chief Judge for her leadership quality which she described as a guiding light that brought tremendous progress in enhancing Judicial infrastructure and administration.
