The Niger State Government has reorganized the office of the Director of Public Prosecutor (DPP) for an effective justice delivery system.
This was disclosed by the Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice in Niger State, Nasir Mu’azu.
He explained that the changes was done to build Public Confidence in the office as against the Public outcries on the ineptitude and other issues associated with the office of the (DPP) over the years.
The Attorney who spoke to Journalists in his office in an interactive session Friday, said henceforth any legal advices emanating from the legal department of the state Criminal investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) will be subjected to scrutiny before its transmission to court
Nasir Mu’azu revealed that any Legal advice from the legal department of the SCIID will now be vented by the solicitor general and permanent secretary and the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice before it can finally be taken to court for necessary action.
” Every advice emanating from the office of the DPP, will now be subjected to scrutiny either by the permanent secretary or the Commissioner before we now release it to the public or the court.
” We will make sure we monitor that office and the activities in the office of the DPP to disabuse the negatives impression on the wrongs that is going on in that office. This will build Confidence in the minds of the Public” the Attorney General told Journalists.
This, according to the Attorney General, will build Public Confidence in the office of the Director of Public Prosecutor (DPP) and to disabuse the negative impression of the public on the activities of the office of the DPP.
As parts of the changes effected in the office of the director of Public Prosecutor, the Attorney General disclosed that the office will now be supervised and monitored by the office of the Solicitor General and the permanent secretary in the Ministry of Justice for effective justice delivery.
He further disclosed that there was unprecedented public outcries on the wrongs discovered in the office of the director of Public Prosecutor (DPP) over the years, which informed the steps taken “to right the wrongs going on in that office to build Public Confidence in us as a ministry saddled with the duty of giving justice to the public”
He pointed out that it was discovered that the office of the DPP has been engulfed with so many wrongs before he assumed office which he maintained will not be allowed under his watch as the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice.
” I want as the Attorney General,in my time, the Public should have confidence in the justice system in Niger state.this will be achieved with the steps we have taken” he asserted
