The elected Chairman, Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Barrister Isyaku Barau has appealed to Governor Umar Mohammed Bago to assist in building a befitting Bar Center for the association as part of his urban renewal drive.
He said the construction of the Bar centre would assist members in adding values to their professional responsibilities as legal practitioners.
Barrister Isyaku Barau made the appeal on Friday, in an interview with Journalists at the premises of Minna High court complex.
According to him the association has been lagging behind as one of the branch in the Northern state without a befitting bar Center, urging the governor to assist the branch towards the construction of the centre
He disclosed that their colleagues in Kebbi State, were assisted with the sums of one hundred million naira by the State Governor Dr. Nasir Idris Ahmed for the construction of their Bar centre.
He requested Governor Umar Mohammed Bago to extend the same kind gesture to the Minna Branch.
Noting that legal practitioners as critical stakeholders in the political and socio economic development in the governance of the state needs the support of the Governor for them to be seen as part of government.
He added that the construction of the bar centre by Governor Bago’s administration be seen as a memorable legacy that the NBA Minna Branch will continue to see as a landmark achievements ever recorded by his administration.
” If under Governor Umar Mohammed Bago administration, a befitting bar Center is constructed, his administration has added an immeasurable values to our practice in the branch”
” It will be seen as a landmark achievements ever recorded by his administration in Niger state. It will also be on record that it was during his time as governor that the NBA Bar centre was constructed ” he asserted.
The NBA Chairman was of the view that the construction of the bar Center will among others serve as training and event center for the NBA.
