The Senator, representing Delta South Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Joel-Onowakpo Thomas, is sponsoring a Bill for the establishment of Federal School of Nursing & Midwifery, Patani in Delta State
This was disclosed by the Senator on Thursday, in a post via his X handle.
He explained: “In line with my commitment to ensuring that Delta South Senatorial District receives quality representation, I have sponsored the Federal School of Nursing & Midwifery, Patani, Delta State (Establishment) Bill 2024.
“The Bill, with serial number SB635, passed its first reading today, Thursday, 31 October 2024, in the Senate.
The importance of this professional institution to the overall health and wellbeing of our people and indeed all Nigerians cannot be overemphasised.
“Among other things, the institution shall serve as a training ground for future healthcare professionals, providing essential education in nursing and midwifery.
“It will enhance the skills and knowledge of individuals who are passionate about improving public health.
“The institution will contribute to addressing the shortage of qualified healthcare personnel in the region, ensuring better healthcare services for the communities within Delta State and beyond.”
