The Chairman House Committee On Youths and Sports in the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Hon. Tarri Pori has declared opened the International Couching Clinic of the 5th Governor Douye Diri International Scouting Programme in Yenagoa the state capital.
The event which took place at the Golden Tulip had 50 participant Grassroots Couches in Bayelsa .
Declaring the ceremony open, Hon. Tarri Pori said, governor Douye Diri has built capacity across board especially amongst the youths in Bayelsa state, adding that it’s one of the programmes that have added values to the youths of the state.
According to him, for effective performance of youths in the state, the governor has in his wisdom separated Ministry of Youths and Sports to Ministry of Sports Development and Ministry of Youths in other to engage the youth in a positive way of using there energies and this has gone along way in changing the narratives of what many perceived about the state in the past.
His word, ” the Governor’s Tournament indeed has come to stay. And I want to assure Bayelsans that the speaker and the Bayelsa State House of Assembly is ready to partner the ministry of Sports Development and Ministry of Youths to make sure the funds needed for them to work effectively will be approved”.
In his welcome address, the Director General of the Bayelsa State governor’s Tournament known as Prosperity Cup, Onoriode Kelvin Akpe, said the Grassroots tournament is made possible by the governor of the state, senator Douye Diri who is a sports loving man.
He said the aim of the Couching Clinic is to impact fresh knowledge into the Grassroots Couches. “We want to impact our Couches in other for them to take our players to the world”.
In their separate goodwill messages, the mayor of Yenagoa local government council, Hon. Boloudeseiye Ndiwari thanked governor Douye Diri for giving the Youths of the state opportunity to redirect there energies in a positive way.
Also speaking, the newly appointed commissioner of Youths, Hon. Alfred Kemepade, also commended the governor for providing the platform for youths of the state to bring out the potential in them. He also thanked the commissioner of Sports Development, Hon. Daniel Baraladei Igali for making the state proud in the area of Sports Development.
Highlight of the occasion was the presentation of Prosperity Cup T. Shirts to guests and dignitaries at the occasion, health talk and checkup on both sugar level and Blood Pressure (BP) for a healthy and productive performance.
The scouts are Mindaugas Malinauskas of Lithuania, a retired Lithuanian goalkeeper coach, Augustine Jibrin head coach, OTP United, Simas Kumza, Sports Director, FK Babrungas Plunge, Lithuania, Harry Azodo, Sporting Director OTP of Finland, Ahmet Ozein, agent choli scout, Turkey, former international Peter Nieketen, Hakan Uyanmis, agent and CEO H.Sports Management agency Sporting Director of Sakaryaspor, Glenn Stahl International Football Scout and Kelvin Etemike, CEO Tristone Sports/ OTP of Finland and of course Ladan Bosso, Coach of the Under 20 National Team and celebrated Club owner and scouting agent, Datti Ahmed.
