A group, known as CONCERNED DELTA-IJAWS APC MEMBERS WORLDWIDE, has called on former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs and chieftain of All Progressives Congress APC, Mr. Godsday Orubebe not to cause disunity amongst Ijaw members of APC, and Delta State APC leadership.
The group’s statement was posted on Facebook by King Edougha Ekpokpo.
The gruop lamented the disheartening clash and division among the ranking leaders of APC in Delta State.
“ We strive for progress and growth of APC in Delta State, and mostly amongst the Ijaws of APC”
The group recalled that Orubebe decamped from his former political party, PDP to join APC when the APC had even concluded its GOVERNORSHIP PRIMARIES in the year 2023.
Adding that Orubebe pleaded to be submissive to the already existing party leadership and structures in Delta State and also the Ijaw APC, without inducing friction or conflict.
The group alleged that Orubebe had caused disunity and playing fractional politics by going against the party’s interest.
According to the group, when APC members objected to Orubebe joining the party for fear of betrayal, but it was Chief Senator Ovie Omo-Agege and some Ijaw APC leaders that accepted Orubebe to the party.
“ We want to remind Orubebe that his attempt in trying to outsmart SEN. OMO-AGEGE and all those Ijaws APC leaders who were in the party before he ( Orubebe) came will not work”
“ We are watching closely and we are also hearing how Orubebe is allegedly going everywhere and fighting against SEN. OMO-AGEGE & other hierarchy of DELTA-IJAWS APC LEADERS that brought him back to the party. It is wrong for Orubebe fighting those who rescued him from political oblivion”
The group further alleged that Orubebe is about selling what rightfully should come to DELTA-IJAWS APC to another ethic nationalities after been compromised.
“ During the last election, Orubebe only won 3 units in OGBOBAGBENE out of the 9 units. Lost political ward, but today, Orubebe is claiming to be the lion of the party”
“ During the last year campaign Orubebe lacked words to convince his own people because he failed as a former Minister of NIGER DELTA. It seems that any place he find himself, he always bring disunity among his peers”
“ May we remind Orubebe that he is the foremost cause of Burutu underdevelopment & unemployment because he refused to share Burutu L.G. A into two or three local government areas when FG was creating / sharing Local government when he was then BURUTU L.G.A CHAIRMAN”
Noting that the selfish, greedy and unpatriotic act, had kept Burutu in a mess till date.
The group advised Orubebe not to cause further disunity in APC, but work to sustain the long-existing political harmony in party before he came on board.
