Former National President of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association Of Nigeria (MACBAN), Alhaji Hussain Yusuf Bosso has assured that frmers and herders will continue to live harmoniously in Niger State.
He gave the assurance in an exclusive interview with thepalacenews.com in Minna at the weekend.
Bosso noted that farmers and herders have been co-existing in Niger State for years without any records of conflict among themselves describing the recent incident recorded in Bosso Local Government area as quite Unfortunate.
According to him, farmers and pastoralists are partners in the promotion of Agricultural revolution and socio economic development of the country, stressing that the needs for their mutual and cordiality should not be compromised.
Recall that 11 Fulani herders hacked to death last Wednesday, by some yet- to be identified farmers in Barkuta village in Bosso Local Government, which almost resulted to a communal clash in the area.
The quick intervention of security agencies brought the situation under control which would have been escalated to a serious breakdown of law and order.
In a swift reaction to the unfortunate incidence, the Acting Governor of Niger State Comrade Yakubu Garba condemned the attack and killing of the Herders with a loud voice assuring of the government readiness to bring the perpetrators to face the law.
Bosso appealed to Fulanis and farmers in the state to continue to live in peace and harmony among themselves.
He stated that the pastoralists and farmers needed each other to exist as partner in the production of food security, noting there is the need for the continuation of the already established mutual relationship.
He called on the people of the affected Community to avoid any unwholesome act that will result to breach of peace and security in the area.
