Chief Oghenekome Reginald Okpobor, Executive Director, Finance and Administration on the Board of Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC) has again demonstrated that occupying a public office is an opportunity to contribute to human and societal development.
Okpobor, Convener of Okugbe Isoko for Sheriff, recently, donated N30m to put smile on face of 300 beneficiaries in Isoko Nation.
The kind gesture by Okpobor affirms that being a pubic servant is to make impact in the society and touching lives positively.
THEPALACE Newspaper, gathered that Okpobor, before and since assuming office as EDFA, DESOPADEC, the Isoko born businessman and politician has consistently shown love and support to humanity.
Okpobor in his actions suggest that holding public office or being close to power is not about self, but using that opportunity to support people and facilitate infrastructural development where necessary.
Despite the recent N30m donations, and assistance he may have given to individuals, there is an excitement as Okpobor unveiled a Skill Acquisition and Business Starter Pack Empowerment Programme in Isoko Nation.
According our findings, the laudable initiative by Okpobor aims to empower unemployed youths, women, and grassroots entrepreneurs through vocational training and starter packs.
The Okpobor’s Skill Acquisition programme will transform the lives of beneficiaries to be selected from the 24 Wards in Isoko Nation.
To kick start the process, Wards Chairman have been directed to nominate four individuals from their communities for consideration.
It was learned that the programme is designed for genuinely deserving individuals, not cronies or relatives of officials.
Further more, the programme’s goal is to foster a culture of enterprise, self-sufficiency, and skill-based development across the Isoko ethnic nationality.
The programme is expected to have a positive impact on the lives of beneficiaries, equipping them with the skills and resources needed to start and sustain their own businesses.
Chief Okpobor believes that empowering the people will fortify the future of Isoko Nation.
