Egbo To Community Leaders: Mobilize Your People To Participate In Ongoing INEC CVR Exercise

The Executive Chairman, Ughelli North Local Government Council, Olorogun Barrister Jaro Movudu Egbo, Ksc, has advised community leaders in Ughelli North Local Government to mobilize voting age in their respective communities to participate in ongoing INEC Continues Voters Registration CVR.

Egbo gave the charge at a stakeholders meeting on Tuesday, with community leaders and representatives of political parties from the seven Kingdoms in Ughelli North Local Government.

The purpose of the meeting was to discuss and address several important issues regarding the growth and development of the local government area and the communities within its jurisdiction.

It also discussed the state of various Primary Healthcare centres in the communities, UNICEF birth Certificate distribution, among other issues.

Egbo emphasized the significance of voter participation in elections, highlighting that registering for a continuous voter’s card constitutes the initial step in this process.

He revealed plans by the council to train two representatives from each of the seven kingdoms, who will, in turn, train others on the registration process within their respective communities and wards.

Adding that he had requested additional machines from INEC to be allocated to Ughelli North due to its population size.

He stated that all numbered houses will be directly entered into the Satellite Navigation – Global Positioning System (GPS), which displays the details and location of each house in the local government area, because it is important for security and census purposes.

The Council Chairman urged the leaders to collaborate with the firm responsible for the numbering to ensure that the work is conducted thoroughly without hitches in the respective kingdoms.

“It is imperative that we make concerted efforts to maintain our Primary Health Centers, and any community that does not prioritize the upkeep of these facilities within their jurisdiction may face closure. Consequently, I will conduct inspections across the 35 healthcare centers within the local government before reaching a final decision”Egbo stated.

Egbo assured to distribute birth certificates provided by UNICEF and NPC for children born between 2023 and 2025.

According to him, the certificates will be dispatched directly to the ward levels through the designated focal Persons, who are also residents of the ward.

He encouraged the leaders to communicate this information to their constituents, urging parents to collect the certificates for their children.

In their respective responses, the leaders expressed their gratitude to the council leader for his foresight and vision in striving for the greatness of Ughelli North.

They pledged to mobilize their communities in support of the discussions and agreements made. Furthermore, they assured him of their commitment to assist in achieving his goals and objectives for the local government area.

The meeting was well attended by the President General, as well as youth and women leaders of the seven kingdoms, representatives of the royal fathers, political parties representatives, security agencies, and other notable stakeholders.
