Chairman of Ughelli North Local Government Council , Olorogun (Barr.) Jaro Movudu Egbo Ksc and his counterpart, in Ughelli South Local Government Council, Hon.Lucky Avweromre, PhD, have waded into the communal conflict between Edjekota-Ogor and Ewu communities, which stems from land disputes.
The Chairmen visited both communities earlier on Tuesday, and advocated for peaceful coexistence among each community, noting that peace is crucial to sustainable development and harmony.
While speaking, Barr. Egbo highlighted the importance of resolving disputes peacefully to prevent further tensions and conflicts, emphasizing that only the living can work towards peace, urging youths, men, and women to put aside their differences and be advocates of peace.
On his part, Hon. Avweromre, maintained that efforts are being made to promote understanding and cooperation between communities, particularly in resolving the land boundary disputes.
He added that a resolutions committee will be established, comprising representatives from both communities and local government, to address issues and work towards peaceful resolutions.
In furtherance, the Council Chairmen have announced that all hospital bills for injured individuals will be covered, aiming to alleviate the financial burden on those affected.
