Delta State House of Assembly Committee Laud Egbo’s Achievements, Performance

Inspects projects being executed in Ughelli North

The Delta State House of Assembly Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, has commended the performance, achievements and good works being done by Olorogun Jaro Egbo, Executive Chairman of Ughelli North Local Government Area.

The House Committee, led by its Chairman, Hon Ogbuefi Chukwudi Dafe and other members paid a working visit on Monday to Ughelli North.

In his welcoming address, Egbo thanked the House Committee members for their oversight and official responsibilities.

He emphasized that his administration was deeply committed to maintaining an open-door policy grounded in accountability and a people-centered approach, aligning with His Excellency, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s MORE AGENDA initiative.

Egbo further expressed confidence in the leadership of the Delta State House of Assembly, under the direction of the Rt. Hon. Guwor Emomotimi Dennis..

He also affirmed his administration’s commitment to implementing legacy projects that will endure over time within the local government, referring to them as SHERIFF STANDARD PROJECTS.

Egbo praised Governor Oborevwori for establishing a benchmark for others to emulate and pledged to continue to replicate the Governor’s MORE Agenda in the Ughelli North local government area.

In his brief remarks, Dafe stated that their visit was to assess the level of performance of the Council Chairmen with the resources available to them over the past year and beyond.

According to him, this is part of their oversight functions as lawmakers and aligns with constitutional provisions.

Dafe observed that the committee’s responsibilities include conducting assessments of the revenue received by council chairmen, evaluating expenditures, and undertaking project inspections, among other duties.

Adding that, upon their completion of a tour around the 25 local government areas, the committee will submit a comprehensive report to the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, who will then forward it to the Governor.

The highlight of the visit was the presentation of all relevant documents containing the information required by the committee for its operation to the Chairman of the committee.

Thereafter, Egbo led the delegation to inspect the projects being executed under his administration.

Some of the projects inspected were the Tobore Oborevwori Medical Center awaiting commissioning, the Ongoing building of a modern Secretariat Complex at the council Secretariat, Building of an Area Customary and Magistrate Courts complex, a 500 KVA / 33 line substation transformer amongst others.
