Former member of Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Dr. Benjamin Essien Okiemute, NN RTD.(FNIIS), has officially registered and obtained his membership card of Peoples Democratic Party PDP.
Okiemute on Saturday, collected PDP membership card at Unit 15, Ivrogbo, Ward 11, Irri town, in Isoko South Local Government Area, Delta State.
The PDP Chairman, Irri Ward 11, Oba Mathew Aziakpono, conducted the registration and presented the membership card to Okiemute.
He commended Okiemute for joining the ruling party, expressing optimism that he ( Okiemute) will contribute to the growth of the party in the Ward, local government and entire Isoko Nation.
Speaking after receiving his membership card, the ex-lawmaker said he was happy joining the ruling PDP and pledged full commitment to party.
He further expressed appreciation to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for having confidence in him, while thanking all PDP leaders, stakeholders and members in Isoko Nation for believing in him.
It will be recalled that Okiemute has on 8th July, 2024, resigned from the All Progressives Congress APC.
He was officially received into the party by Governor Oborevwori at PDP grand rally at Asaba, along with his followers across the state.
Okiemute represented Isoko South Constituency 1, at Delta State House Assembly, between 2011-2015, and was Deputy Chief Whip, Chairman, House Committee on Security and Strategy.
He said, “ While I was in APC, what I spent there, if I had spent a little of it in PDP, I should have been allowed to reach Heaven without gallops in my political journey”
He expressed gratitude to the foundation members who never looked back even with the bad rewards system of APC to stay put.
A politician in Isoko Nation, who spoke to this medium in confidence on his defection to PDP said, “ Okiemute is the Isoko political eye opener, architect of Isoko today modern politics, Isoko political budolzer and Eni of Isoko land”
