Chairman of Ughelli South Local Government, Delta State has donated Cassava grinding machines to communities in the area.
The aim is to boost Agro – economy in the communities.
The Chairman, Dr. Lucky Avweromre presented the machines to the communities on Saturday.
The communities are Ewu, Okparabe and Arhavwarien.
The presentation was part of activities to mark his 100 days in office.
He said it was in fulfilment of his electioneering campaign, as requested by people of the communities.
Dr. Avweromre promised to install the grinding machines, noting that the people only requested for one Cassava grinding machine during his electioneering campaign, but he decided to donate seven.
Five of the grinding machines went to Ewu and one each for Arhavwarien and Okparabe.
He challenged the beneficiaries to properly maintain the machines with the proceeds, assuring that his administration is poised to execute at – least one project in every community in Ughelli South Local Government Area.
He appreciated Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori for giving him ” the enabling environment to serve” his people.
The Councillor representing Ewu Ward One in Ughelli South Legislative Arm, Hon. Okpako Philip, the Otota (Spokesperson) of Arhavwarien Kingdom, Chief Aviokirhie and the President – General of Okparabe Kingdom, Mr. Uhawha Kingsley, thanked the Ughelli South Local Government Chairman for the Cassava grinding machines, promising him of their continued support, for ” starting well.”
Women leaders of the benefiting communities; Mrs. Ikuku Oghenemine, Mrs. Felicia Oyovwiakedia and Mrs. Victoria, praised Dr. Avweromre for the gesture, promising to deploy the grinding machines to good use.
Deputy Leader of Ughelli South Legislative Arm, Hon. Andrew Eti, Hon. Joy Akoyere, Secretary to Ughelli South Local Government, Chief John Ewenede and the Director of Administration in Ughelli South Local Government Council, who represented the Council’s Head of Personnel Management, HPM, Mrs. Doris Edema, were among top officials of Ughelli South Local Government Council present during the donation.
