On Monday 7th July, 2025, the staff and top officials of Delta State Traffic Management Authority (DESTMA), joyfully celebrated the Director General, Hon. Dr. Benjamin Essien Okiemute NN RTD, on his birthday.
It was a remarkable, colourful event and show of love as staff gathered in celebration to witness the cutting of his birthday cake by the Director General.
It was also an opportunity to acknowledge his tireless efforts in rebranding and improving the agency’s operations.
Under Okiemute ‘s leadership, DESTMA has undergone significant reforms, focusing on traffic management, road safety, and discipline among staff.
Reforms being initiated by DESTMA focuses on protecting lives and properties by enforcing traffic rules and regulations.
The agency is working closely with the Delta State Police Command to improve traffic management, enforce safety compliance, and reduce road accidents.
DESTMA aims to promote road safety through public education and awareness campaigns to create a disciplined driving culture across the state
Speaking in his office to mark the birthday celebration on Monday, Okiemute expressed gratitude to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for the opportunity to lead the agency
He emphasized on the cooperation between the public and DESTMA officials to achieve its goals.
Away from DESTMA, his private employees, political associates and business partners across the country also joined to celebrate a man with a good and large heart on his birthday.
