His Royal Highness (Amb) Ayibakuro Peter Ogidi-Oke, Opu-Oporomo Igbedi-Ogbologhe, Pere IV of Oporoma Kingdom, and the people have organised a grand reception to honour Hon.Target Isaiah Segibo, Chairman of Southern Ijaw Local Government Council in Bayelsa State.
The ceremony was held at the Council Secretariat Pavilion.
Segibo is the first indigene of Oporoma to become the Chairman of Southern Ijaw Local Government since its creation 33 years ago.
He appreciated political leaders, traditional rulers and well wishers for the honour and also thanked God for keeping him alive.
Segibo a pioneer member of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, expressed gratitude to the monarch the good people of Oporoma for organising the reception in his honour.
The council boss hinted that politics requires patience to succeed and enjoined those looking for anything good to hold on to God.
He advised youths to abstain from acts such as taking hard drugs, violent conduct and other social vices detrimental societal development.
He announced the appointment of Tariebiye Igeoun from Korokorosei as a Special Adviser in appreciation of a giant art painting of himself and his dear wife presented at the occasion.
Earlier, Chairman of the occasion, Surveyor B.J. Egberibin represented by Dr. Dennis Egberibin in his opening remarks noted that the election of Segibo as Chairman of Southern Ijaw Local Government Area is a dream come true for the people of Oporoma.
He added that others from different communities have occupied the position and have done their bit, urging Oporoma indigenes to support Segibo to surpass the records of previous Chairmen.
The monarch of Oporoma Kingdom, in his welcome address said they are grateful to God that a son of from the kingdom is now the Chairman of Southern Ijaw Local Government.
He expressed joy that it is happening in his reign as the Paramount Ruler of the community.
Noting that Oporoma has produced great sons and daughters, saying that when you conceive good ideas it will always yield positive results and thanked his deputy, His Highness(Dr ) Andy Zighadina for mooting the idea of the reception.
