To set out a vision and mission is good, but it also requires genuine commitment and determination to pursue, and actualize the outlined dream or purpose.

The Delta State Contributory Heath Commission (DSCHC) was established by the immediate past administration of former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa to give back to the society ( Deltans) in health care delivery.

Former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa established DSCHC with a clear vision to make health care services accessible and affordable to the vulnerable citizens and residents in Delta State.

Inherited by incumbent Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, the health insurance scheme project costing the State Government billions of naira is to get more poor and less privileged Deltans to be enrolled which will enable the enrollees enjoin quality and unhindered health care.

At the beginning, many did not understand the significance of Delta State Health Insurance scheme, but with the intense efforts, orientation and campaign championed by the Director-General, Olorogun Dr. Isaac Akpoveta, the people have began to embrace the opportunity to be enrolled and participate in the Insurance scheme.

To achieve the vision of DSCHC, Dr. Akpoveta, appealed to privileged Deltans to collaborate with the health commission to provide health care for the vulnerable persons in the state.

Akpoveta’s call for collaboration is to enable DSCHC take the scheme to all rural communities in the State.

Interestingly, Akpoveta said Governor Sheriff Oborevwori was committed to having more Deltans enrolled in the health insurance scheme across the three senatorial districts.

In fulfilling the Governor’s desire, Akpoveta is ensuring that more people and vulnerable persons at the grassroots and rural communities are being enrolled.

Commendably, Akpoveta’s transparent and diligent handling of the insurance scheme is convincing and getting both government officials, privileged individuals and non governmental organizations to pay for enrollments of persons.

As they say, charity begins at home, Akpoveta has also taken the laudable exercise to his hometown, Ofuoma community in Ughelli North Local Government Area, where indigenes were enrolled and sponsored in his capacity.

Akpoveta had assured that the DSCHC is determined to increase the number of enrollees from its current figure of over two million.
